Ashley Rae on the Miramichi and Restigouche Rivers

I visited New Brunswick this past summer, and the adventure is still so vivid in my mind. As my first time in NB, I had no idea what to expect. Upon setting foot on the shores of the breath-taking Miramichi and Restigouche Rivers– tranquility set in. The crystal-clear waters are home to one of the most amazing species I’ve encountered yet – the mighty Atlantic salmon.

As an angler, fishing is usually the top priority but I was beyond spoiled during my trip. During my stay I had the opportunity to spend time at the Restigouche River Lodge, Wilson’s Sporting Camps and the Upper Oxbow – each offering a unique experience with memorable staff, delicious food and pride in their beautiful province. It’s no wonder they are proud to call New Brunswick home.

This trip in itself was a dream come true for me. As a first time hosting a fishing show (Fly Nation), and having the opportunity to catch a new species – I was thrilled! Tourism New Brunswick did a fabulous job of giving the crew and I a real feel for the New Brunswick culture. Thank you for a trip of a lifetime, and I can’t wait to be back!
